We will operate in compliance with all relevant environmental legislation and regulations and endeavour to use pollution prevention and environmental best practices in all
our operations.
We will
- inform and educate our employees and tell young people in our care about
environmental issues and how their work or activities can affect the environment*
- encourage our employees and young people to behave in an environmentally
responsible manner
- reduce waste through re-use and recycling, purchasing recycled, recyclable or
re-furbished products and materials where this is feasible
- promote efficient use of materials and resources throughout our headquarters and
premises, (eg water, electricity and particularly non-renewable resources)
- avoid using hazardous materials and products, seeking alternatives when
possible. We will take any necessary steps to protect human health and the
environment when storing or disposing of such materials
- purchase and use environmentally responsible products as much as possible
- where required by legislation or where significant health, safety or
environmental hazards exist, develop and maintain appropriate emergency
and spill response programmes
- communicate our environmental commitment to our clients encouraging them to
give it their support
- aim for continual improvement by frequently reviewing our environmental policy in
light of current developments and planned future activities.
* While we ensure that we proceed in an environmentally friendly manner at our own
headquarters and that the young people are aware of how they can help the
environment, we do not own the premises in which they are placed so do not have
complete environmental control of them.
